Whiskey How-to

Wikihow has a good description of how to taste single malt scotch. One point about water and ice in scotch, however. My friends and I disagree about whether one should add ice to high-end whiskey. Some believe that chilling with ice subdues the complex flavors of single malts. I believe the ice changes the entire dynamic of whiskey in a positive way. Water and ice do change the subtlies of the beverage. I prefer to try it straight-up AND with a few rocks, letting the ice melt to water the whiskey. All three flavors may be different.
